Week 9. Patterns

What better pattern than bathroom tile?  The feather is from the couch.

Week 8. Silhouette.

I have always wanted to try a silhouette so I was happy that was this weeks theme.  Unfortunately I didn't have a lot of time to master the skill so I will have to continue trying.  I did get Pierce to stand in front of the window so I could practice.  He is being his normal spunky self and posing for me...the hands in the air was his idea entirely and I absolutely loved it.  My muse.

Week 7. Red.

This weeks theme was red, for Valentine's Day.  Unfortunately I didn't snap any shots of Pierce making his Valentine's day cards for school because it was enough of a battle just to get him to make them.  Who knew writing Valentine's cards would be such a challenge?  Can't wait for homework!  Sigh!  But, I managed a skill I have yet to master, patience, and he finished all of them.  I was so proud of us!  This is actually the weekend after Valentine's day.  Pierce is making thank you cards for his friends from school that came to his birthday celebration.  Lucky for me there were only 3!!  I chose this photo for "red" because I was thinking of his red lips...

Week 6. Time.

Went to my Mom's for breakfast this week.  What better depiction of time than children waiting to be "gotten" by their poppa and Dad/uncle??!!

Week 5. Morning.

Morning.  Mommy's coffee cup.  Kai's favorite thing in the morning is to point to the sheep and say "Baa".  Learning all his animal sounds now, one of my favorite things!  He also loves to point to my cup and say "hot"...so precocious (or more likely just a biased Mom!).

Week 4. Reflection.

Reflection.  A loose use of the word here.  Pierce is a reflection of me and as it was his 5th birthday it seemed more than appropriate to post a picture of him gazing at his cake.

Week 3. Self portrait.

I wanted to try an actual self-portrait for the week...so here it is.  Looking out the window...and onto what happens next...

Week 3 Self portrait...and San Diego

The theme for this weeks project was self portrait.  Which I didnt' realize until I began posting.  So, lucky for me the boys and I were messing around with the tripod whilst playing with our new drum set, on our heads of course.  So, here it is, my self portrait, too bad this was in the morning and I hadn't even gotten dressed yet.  Oh well.  Beth au natural!

My trip to San Diego.  The first day I got there I decided to go walk along Mission Bay for some photos.  These birds captured my eye and I liked the green moss on the sand for added contrast.  So pretty there.

Because I went to San Diego on my own and because of the circumstances of my life right now I decided to photograph this little family sitting staring at the ocean.  They all seemed so content and the little boy spent the whole time chasing and playing with the birds (in his underwear no less).  So even though I don't know these people they seemed to capture what I long for and I just thought it was perfect.

Another shot along the bay, I loved the colors and how the light reflected the water.
Meet Chantel.  My teacher in science!  I went to San Diego for her who I mentored last summer in the lab for a project in which high school teachers spend 8 weeks in a laboratory to not only make connections with real scientists, but also to learn what it's like to do actual science.  This conference happens every year and teachers and their mentors attend.  Chantel is standing here with her friend from Alaska who just happened to be there at the same time.  I think they are lovely.

1-7-12 "Cold"

Where are the cookies, Kai?
How long will they take?
Week 2.  Theme for the week is "Cold".  It snowed today here in Colorado so after we all woke from our naps we decided to stay in a bake cookies!  The kids loved baking the cookies and also eating them after (as you would expect).  I did have to make some strange substitutions after realizing I didn't have vanilla or cinnamon, but they still turned out great!  A lovely way to make a cold day filled with a warm memory.

...starting the year off right!

Ending the year...

Kai and boots!  These are Pierce's old boots, now Tucker is wearing them and it looks as though Kai can't wait to have them for himself!  This kid loves boots!!

Playing on the couch on our Christmas.

Need I say more?

Pierce after getting his prized "electric guitar".  Looking like such a big boy here, he's 4 going on 16!  Love him!
